'As a fourteen-year-old boy I already knew: I wanted to study biotechnology. I have no idea why, exactly, but it was almost like a calling. And it turned out to be just the thing for me. Biotechnology includes many different disciplines: I did my first work placement in forensic research, which was extremely interesting! Every case was an exciting new experience that taught me more about the subject. My second work placement was something completely different: it was at VHL, and focused on food forensics. At my graduate work placement at the events company 'The Good Guys' I continued to study this topic: I got to inform all the events' caterers about food safety. Now that I have a degree in biotechnology, there are so many possibilities for me!'
